Everyone has influential stories that run through their subconscious minds. These can be good or they can be incredibly self-limiting. Rewrite the limiting stories so that you can live a limitless life!

I played soccer for 15 years and always dreaded the conditioning. I told myself, "you're a good player, but because you hate running and getting in shape, you'll never be the best. That's just who you are." UGH - such a stupid and limiting thought! Unfortunately, I never became a star athlete, not because I didn't want it, but because I let that self-created story become my reality.
Since those days, I've been focused on what I tell myself and how I think about myself. Thoughts become beliefs, beliefs become actions and actions become behaviors. If you think you're a certain way, you will become that way. This is Self-Fulfilling Prophecy in it's simplest form - and it can be positive or negative. Instead of thinking, "You're athletic but not active, you'll never be toned," I rewrote that story to say "you're athletic and capable of anything."
Thoughts turn into actions.
So. . . in order to walk the walk, I recently signed up for a full Ironman in Sweden 2020. This decision was made by a girl who has never run more than 2 consistent miles. Oh, did I mention I've never swam a lap in a pool or owned a road bike. . . ever? I didn't even know there were bikes specifically for triathlons. Yup, it's insane. But when the doubt creeps up, I tell myself my new story: "I'm capable of anything I put my mind to. And I will finish this Ironman."
I've clearly never thought of myself as an endurance athlete or someone who would be interested in running 26.2 miles, let alone completing the most difficult triathlon in the world. But I'm putting in the work and living a limitless life. I got a trainer to teach me how to swim, I've been obeying my 4 a.m. alarms when they tell me it's time to get my tush out of bed and invested in a $4,000 bike.
If you want to change something in your life, you need to get out of your head, block out the haters and get to work! Two things: 1. Don't let others' beliefs about you weigh you down or slow you down from obtaining the life you truly want 2. Rewrite the negative stories you've been telling yourself.
Don't let others weigh you down.
Almost everyone discouraged my from doing the full Ironman. They told me to start out with the half, or try a marathon first. I know they had good intentions, but to me it sounded like they were saying: "I don't think you're going to be able to do the full." Ladies and gents, I didn't let this stop me. I let it motivate me - one of the greatest feelings in the world is proving people wrong. Their doubt in my capabilities and willpower is more of a reflection on them than me.
Most of the time, when other people see you going out of your comfort zone, they're negative towards you, or they try to convince you to stop the change. IGNORE THEM. 9/10 times they are either projecting or envious or both. They wish they had the guts and grit that you do to reshape their lives into something different - something better. Sometimes, their hearts are in the right place. Maybe they genuinely are concerned for your well-being, but don't let that stop you! Don't live by a limiting mindset; a mindset that doesn't take risks, lives in fear and doesn't experience life to the fullest.
Rewriting your negative stories.
If you've thought of yourself as an unhealthy person who doesn't enjoy working out or hates the idea of lettuce - that is the life you're going to live. Changing your story seems difficult, but it doesn't have to be; depending on your mindset. Start with what you tell yourself. Instead of thinking: "I don't want to workout because I'm lazy and am comfortable on my couch," rephrase that to think: "This couch will be more comfortable after my tiring run." Your thoughts turn into your actions - start thinking differently. Don't buy into the stories that you or people around you have told you, WRITE YOUR OWN.
Write your own stories; live your best life.
